Sunil is the Founder and Chairman of Bharti Enterprises which includes its flagship company Bharti Airtel a global telecommunications company. Bharti has joint ventures with several global partners like SingTel, SoftBank, the UK and French Governments. Currently, he is a Commissioner at the International Telecommunication Union/UNESCO Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development and a member of the World Economic Forum’s International Business Council.
Sunil served as Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce and of GSM Association concurrently from 2016 to 2018. He was a Trustee at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace from 2009 to 2021 and Chair of the B20 India Action Council on African Economic Integration during India’s G20 Presidency in 2023. He has also served on the boards of several multinational companies including Unilever, Standard Chartered Bank and SoftBank Corp.

Sunil Bharti Mittal is the Chairman of Airtel Africa plc and Airtel Payments Bank Limited, and also serves on the Board of various other Bharti/ Airtel group companies. He is the Chairman of the conglomerate’s philanthropic arm, Bharti Airtel Foundation. He is also the Vice President and Co-Chairman of Eutelsat Communications S.A.
Sunil is also a member of Hakluyt’s International Advisory Board and the Global Board of Advisors at the Council on Foreign Relations.
