BT boosts island life on Islay

Some parts of the island of Islay, off the west coast of Scotland, have never had mobile signal from any operator. Until now.

The latest milestone in our work supporting the UK Government with the Shared Rural Network has seen EE build a new mast to deliver fast, reliable 4G connectivity to the local community and ensure people living, working, and visiting Islay can stay connected.

Islay is one of nearly 2,000 rural communities where we’ve strengthened our mobile connectivity in the last five years, ranging from Penmachno in the Welsh valleys to the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, and other Scottish islands like Jura.

This positive step forward for the people of Islay is part of ongoing our commitment to expand our award-winning connectivity to the places that need it most.

The UK’s best network keeps getting better.
