• BT’s networks will underpin every aspect of UEFA EURO 2028™ – from stadiums and training grounds to fan zones and broadcast.
  • This includes equipping each of the 24 official team base camps with 5G+ network slicing, supporting coaches and players with the connectivity they need for analysis, preparation and decision making at the highest level
  • In advance of that, we’ll be making 5G+ network slicing capabilities available to consumers and businesses nationwide later this year, enabling more reliable, prioritised connectivity for customers, even during the busiest moments.

Major sporting events like the UEFA European Championship, which comes to the UK and Ireland in 2028, are powerful cultural moments. They bring people together, lift the national mood and create memories that last a lifetime. In 2028, how those moments are experienced and shared will depend on connectivity more than ever – whether you’re inside a packed stadium, travelling between host cities, or watching from home.

That’s why our role as Official Telecommunications Partner at UEFA EURO 2028™ is critical, and one that we’re immensely proud to hold. We’ll be providing the digital backbone of the tournament, with our secure and resilient networks connecting stadiums, fan zones, training bases and international broadcast operations across all four home nations.

Transforming the matchday experience

In‑stadium connectivity is increasingly important to how fans enjoy live sport. People want to be able to rely on their phones in the venue just as confidently as they do everywhere else. Strong, reliable connectivity can help reduce queueing, support safety communications, enable real‑time access to stats and replays, and open the door to new services – from ordering food from your seat to receiving live stadium updates.

We’re already seeing the impact connectivity makes at large venues today – last year, we made Wembley Stadium the first in the UK to benefit from its own bespoke 5G+ system – and UEFA EURO 2028™ gives us the opportunity to raise the bar further across the UK. Innovative mobile infrastructure, including bespoke in-stadium solutions, will help ensure fans stay connected even in the most demanding conditions.

Beyond this, every host stadium will also be powered by record‑breaking fibre connectivity, with dual ultra‑high‑capacity connections providing both scale and resilience within each venue. That means a network capable of handling extraordinary spikes in demand – even at peak moments – while delivering the reliability that fans and broadcasters depend on.

Connecting fans, wherever they are

Our ongoing investment in fibre and 5G+ means connectivity won’t stop at the stadium gates. With fans travelling across our home nations, moving through airports, stations, city centres and public transport hubs, our networks will support them wherever they go – helping them stay informed, share moments and access the services they rely on while on the move.

We’ve already strengthened connectivity in many of these high-demand locations, including at major airports like Manchester and Stansted, alongside ongoing upgrades across key rail routes and city centres. At the same time, we continue to deploy small cells and advanced technologies like ARC – which improves network performance by up to 20 per cent – to boost capacity where it’s needed most.

Together, these investments are helping to ensure host cities, including Cardiff, Glasgow, London and Manchester, are ready for the influx of fans at UEFA EURO 2028™, and this work will continue in the lead up to the tournament.

And last not least, as we continue the roll-out of EE's 5G+ network at pace across the UK, we’ll be making the capabilities of network slicing available to business and consumer customers nationwide later this summer. This marks a step change in how people can depend on their mobile network for the things that matter most to them, even at times of highest demand.

For consumers, this means dedicated connectivity on our EE network for increasingly reliable user experiences. And for businesses, it’s about assured performance and greater resilience for critical communications – from key public services and live broadcast, through to connectivity for payments and ticketing at major events and in highly-congested areas.

Supporting teams at the highest level

Building on this, we’ll be equipping each of the 24 official team base camps at UEFA EURO 2028™ with a dedicated network slice, enabled by our 5G+ network – ensuring prioritised connectivity for players and coaches. This provides secure, reliable, low‑latency performance to support analysis, preparation and decision making at the highest level.

This is a clear example of how advanced connectivity is becoming embedded in elite sport – supporting both the fan experience and the performance of teams competing at the top of their game.

A legacy beyond the tournament

Major sporting events should leave more than memories, and behind our partnership with UEFA is confidence in BT’s ability to deliver long‑term benefits – upgrading infrastructure, strengthening resilience and raising connectivity standards in places that will serve communities long after the final whistle.

From record-breaking fibre to advanced mobile capabilities, UEFA EURO 2028™ will showcase what the UK’s most trusted networks can deliver at national scale – connecting millions of people to moments that matter, every second along the way.
