What is Full Fibre broadband?
Full Fibre broadband delivers a fibre connection direct into your home, for ultra-reliable, ultrafast speeds up to 900Mbps. This is the UK’s most reliable broadband technology.
It’s up to 25x faster than our standard fibre broadband, which uses fibre cables to your street cabinet, then copper cables to your home.
You might also have heard Full Fibre referred to as FTTP (fibre to the premises).
See what broadband you can get with us on our broadband deals page.
Can I get Full Fibre broadband?
Full Fibre is rolling out across the UK, so it’s not available everywhere yet. We’re moving quickly though, and thousands of homes are being connected every day.
You can see if it’s available where you live by going to our broadband deals page and entering your postcode. If you can get it, you’ll see Full Fibre packages in your deals.
If you can’t get Full Fibre yet, we’ll show you your other broadband deals and you can sign up to hear when it’s coming to your area.
What’s the difference between fibre and Full Fibre?
Fibre broadband uses fibre cables to transmit signals to your street cabinet, then copper cables to connect to your home. It’s also called FTTC (fibre to the cabinet).
Full Fibre, also known as FTTP (fibre to the premises), uses fibre all the way to your home. No copper cables. This is the the UK’s most reliable broadband technology, with speeds up to 25x faster than our standard fibre.
Full Fibre isn’t available everywhere yet, but thousands of UK homes are being connected every day.
What are FTTP and FTTC?
FTTP stands for fibre to the premises. It uses fibre cables all the way into your home. This means it can deliver ultrafast broadband speeds up to 900Mb, and makes it the UK’s most reliable broadband technology too.
FTTP isn’t available everywhere yet, but it’s being installed up and down the UK. Our FTTP broadband is called Full Fibre.
FTTC stands for fibre to the cabinet. Also known as fibre broadband, it uses fibre cables to a cabinet on your street, then copper cables the rest of the way to your home. FTTC broadband isn’t as fast as FTTP, but you can still get superfast speeds up to around 80Mb.
At BT, our Full Fibre packages are FTTP, and our Fibre packages are FTTC. See what broadband you can get with BT

What’s the difference between broadband and wi-fi?
Your broadband is your connection to the internet, and all the things you can do and access online. It’s delivered to your home via fibre or copper cables. You can see what broadband you can get with us on our broadband deals page.
With broadband, you can get online with a wired connection (by plugging in to your router with an Ethernet cable), and a wireless connection (your wi-fi). Wi-fi is the technology that allows you to get online wirelessly, with wi-fi enabled devices like smartphones, tablets and laptops.
If you find your wi-fi doesn’t reach everywhere you want it to at home, you can extend your signal with Complete Wi-Fi.

Openreach Survey: In some cases Openreach have to carry out a survey before they can connect a home to Full Fibre. To do this they may need access to your property. If they do we’ll contact you to arrange a suitable time. If additional work is required, this may take longer than the initial set-up time provided and there could be additional costs. Our team of specialists will contact you to confirm what additional work is needed and how long this will take, usually within four weeks from the date your order was placed. If you don’t want to proceed with your upgrade based on this, you will be able to cancel your order and no charges will be applied to your account. Not all lines in an ultrafast Fibre area can support this service, call today to see if you are eligible.
