BT price changes explained

We’re committed to ensuring our customers know exactly how much they will pay throughout their contract, with predictable, transparent pricing in pounds and pence provided to each customer before they sign up.

We know that your home relies on a brilliant connection. Whether it’s through your mobile or broadband service, it’s more important than ever to keep everyone and everything connected. Our annual price change allows us to continue investing to deliver the best connection for you and your home, now and in the future. We’re always working to deliver an ever-improving mobile experience and great value for money.

Customers on our older terms were subject to the old system of price increases based on the variable Consumer Price Index (CPI) plus 3.9%.  We think the new model of price increases in pounds and pence is much clearer and gives more certainty on what the price change will be so we are moving customers who contracted with us before we introduced our pounds and pence approach and who are outside of their minimum term onto these terms as part of our price change this year. This change means all our customers will benefit from a fairer, more transparent pricing approach, aligned with Ofcom and Government guidelines.

What does this mean?

The new terms say that whilst you are in your minimum term, you’ll get an annual increase to your plan price on 31st March each year, then once your minimum term has ended, you’ll get an annual increase to your plan price on 1st March each year. Our communication will confirm when the increase will take effect in March 2026.

New customers joining and existing customers upgrading from 1st March 2026 will also be subject to these new terms.

You can find the new terms here.

I’m already on terms that include a pounds and pence increase each year,
am I affected by this change?

If you are already on our pounds and pence terms and are outside your minimum term, or on a 30-day rolling contract, you will receive an increase based on our latest rate increases.  Your price change communication will explain when this will take effect.

The current annual price increase amounts are as follows:

Product Current annual price increase
Mobile SIM-only plan and airtime plans £2.50
Handset plans £4
Connected device plans - laptop, tablet or watch and mobile broadband £1.50
4G/5G Home Broadband plans £4
Broadband plans £4
EE TV plans £2

If you are still within your minimum term, there is no change to the price increase amount that you signed up to.
