This Christmas sees Netflix branch out into the world of animation with its first original animated film.
Klaus is sure to delight viewers of all ages this festive season – here’s all you need to know about it.
When is Klaus on Netflix?
As you might have guessed from its title, Klaus is set to be a Christmas release for Netflix in 2019.
The film will get an exact air date later in the year.
What is it about?
This magical tale is a pet project of Despicable Me co-creator Sergio Pablos, who came up with the idea for it in 2010.
It follows young Scandinavian postman Jesper, who gets the chance to make his mark at work when he’s tasked with bringing the postal service to a village in the cold North.
But when Jesper arrives there, he encounters a mysterious, white-bearded toymaker called Klaus, and the adventure really begins.
Klaus combines traditional hand-drawn animation with cutting-edge technology to create a unique animation style.
Who does it star?
Netflix has signed up an impressive voice cast to launch its first animated feature.
Starring as Jesper is Jason Schwartzman, who has previously starred in The Darjeeling Limited and Moonrise Kingdom.
J.K. Simmons, who starred in Whiplash, Juno and La La Land, will voice Klaus.
The rest of the cast includes Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation) as Alva, Joan Cusack (Working Girl) as Mrs Krum, Norm Macdonald (Saturday Night Live) as Mogens, and Will Sasso (The Three Stooges) as Mr Ellingboe.
