We're finally back on the island, but who are the contestants looking for love this year? Find out everything you need to know about the Love Island 2021 cast.
The last time we spent our evenings watching the Love Island dramas play out, information about a mysterious virus in China was just creeping into news reports and we didn’t know what a lockdown entailed.
Some 16 months later, we’re more than ready to meet our new islanders as they head off to sunnier climes - even if we can't. Who’s your type, who’s the best on paper, and who do you think will form the winning couple? Take a look and find out more…
Love Island cast 2021
Amy is 25, from Surrey, and is an all-round performer - she dances, sings and acts.
She explains: "When I work on a cruise ship it’s very beautiful costumes, stunning and just feeling glamorous all the time. To be able to perform and make a salary – I’ve been very lucky. I acted in one episode of Humans. The dream is the West End – or Hollyoaks! On the West End Wicked is a classic – that would be the absolute dream."
Before entering Casa Amor, she said: "I’m clearly not very good at dating myself. I’m looking forward to the experience and the potential of finding someone I might not have met."
Clarisse is a 23-year-old brand owner and influencer from London.
On entering Casa Amor, she said: "I’m bored of hugging my pillow… it’s time to find a boyfriend. I feel like guys are coming in here to actually find a girlfriend as well."
Kaila is a 28-year-old international DJ from Dublin.
She says her job makes it hard to find loving relationships.
"Before the pandemic I was DJ-ing everywhere, all around the world, really fun, exciting, very fast-paced, meeting a lot of interesting characters. I’d be around a lot of different artists in the industry. I love the energy. Sometimes it is hard dating as I am travelling a lot."
Lillie is a trainee accountant from South Shields.
The 22-year-old says she could create problems in Casa Amor.
"I love a challenge. I’m just going to be myself. I’m quite cheeky, naturally flirty, make it clear what I want anyway. If I get the signals of ‘back off, I’m sleeping outside by myself’ then I will… I’m going in there to date people I don’t usually date. I will explore other options. I’ll make it clear that I’m going in for that. I don’t mind stepping on toes. I’m there for the same reason they are."
Mary is a 22-year-old model from Wakefield.
She thinks she'll shake things up in Casa Amor.
"I’m really a positive person all the time, bubbly. I think I’ll spice things up. I think I will step on a few toes which will be interesting. I hate boring people. I can speak to anyone. The whole time I’ll be chewing someone’s ear off. That’s my coping mechanism, I just talk."
Salma is a 20-year-old model and influencer from Dublin.
On her reasons from entering Love Island, she says: "I’ve never been in love. What better place to have a tunnel vision and really finding your one? It’s the perfect atmosphere, you don’t have the outside world distractions. It looks like time moves fast in there in a good way – it’s like, do you actually like me or not? In the real world it’s so wishy-washy. With this, it’s just, you need to know."
Dale is a 24-year-old barber from Glasgow.
He's hoping to find love in Casa Amor, but says he's not a bad person.
"I’m not a bad guy who is going to steal somebody’s girl. But if I want something then I’m going to pursue it. I would go about it all in the right way. Everybody would be well aware of what I was doing."
Harry is a 24-year-old car salesman from Glasgow.
He's the frst ever Islander to be recruited directly through Tinder.
"I’ve been single for a year and a half and previously went through heartbreak and I’ve had a bit of fun as well. Obviously, Covid then hit so I haven't had the chance to date.
"It was through Tinder that I signed up. Over the past year it was easier to start off an initial conversation online because pubs and clubs were closed."
Jack is 26, from East Sussex, and a racing driver and coach.
He says of his career: "I started racing when I was 12 years old. It started off as a bit of fun and I took to it really quickly. By the time I was 15 I was British champion and racing all over the world.
"My go-karting career took me off into car racing. I had an accident when I was 19 where I fractured my T9 vertebrae so my career expanded - it wasn’t solely just being a racing driver, that is when I started doing more on track driving coaching and stunt driving."
He says of being on Love Island: "I’m there for myself and I’m trying to find love. My competitive nature will come out when I’m there."
Matthew is a strategic marketing consultant from Belfast.
Talking about his career, he says: "We started a marketing consultancy at Christmas time and it took off really quickly. I originally did law as my undergraduate and I’ve worked in investment banking and I did a masters in business administration. I was working in California for a year and a half. I came back without a job and I started this company with some other marketing consultants."
On what people can expect from him in Casa Amor, he says: "I feel like I’m pretty chilled and very adventurous. I’m very laid-back in the sense I like to laugh and I don’t care too much about what people think."
Medhy is a 24-year-old American football player and model.
He's from Belgium but he currently lives in Luton.
"I speak four languages, written and verbal. I speak French, Dutch, English and Lingala," he reveals. "I wish I paid more attention in school when it came to Spanish as I’d then have that as well!"
On being in Love Island, he says: "I’ve been single for four years and I love a good challenge. I love temptation so I thought why not?"
Sam is a 23-year-old maintenance engineer from Clitheroe.
He says of going on Love Island: "I’m happy to step on someone’s toes to get what I want. If that’s what I’ve got to do, I’ve got to do it.
"I am looking forward to meeting the boys as well, I’m a proper lads’ lad. I see myself getting on with the boys as well - it’ll be good to meet some new people and get a few bromances going."
Abigail Rawlings is a 27-year-old tattoo artist. She's from Beaconsfield but lives in Bournemouth.
She says she's not afraid to find a long-term boyfriend.
"I’m here for a relationship. I’m not scared of commitment at all. I seem to enjoy life more when I’m with someone, someone to do stuff with.
"Am I looking for a boyfriend? 100% yes. I also want to make friends as well. When people ask ‘what is your goal in life?’ One of mine is to meet as many people as I can and make as many friendships and connections with people."
Georgia Townend - dumped in week four
Georgia is 28 and a marketing executive from Essex.
She says she's definitely ready for love, having been single for the last five years.
She adds: "I like someone who we can have solid flirt to roast ratio, as in he can tease me but he will treat the things that I care about with respect and with the clemency that they deserve. I don’t want someone that is really vacuous and isn’t aware of what’s going on in the world."
Georgia only survived in the villa for 24 hours after her Hugo - who she wanted to get to know - chose Chloe over her in a brutal recoupling.
"It was really tricky to go in and only have the one person I was interested in. When that didn’t pay off, I knew I was up s*** creek without a paddle.
"They were all lovely boys but I know what I’m looking for and none of them are it. A lot of the couples in there, they’re the right pair for one another, so I would have felt awful, selfish and really unkind if I’d ripped a couple apart if I wasn’t wholly invested."
Tyler is a 26-year-old estate agent from Croydon.
He says his friends would describe him as "confident" while family would say he was "well-mannered, very polite".
On his reason for joining Love Island, he says: "I’m single and still looking for someone. I’ve been single for about three years I would say. I kind of miss having somewhere there. It’s a good opportunity to find someone. I’m really competitive so the challenge aspect I do like. I want to get out there in my shorts and show my abs."
Danny Bibby - dumped in week four
Danny is a 25-year-old plumber and clothing brand owner from Wigan.
He thinks he could stir things up in the villa with his straightforward personality.
"I will speak my mind. My Dad would say I’ve got no filter. I’ll say whatever comes to mind - bad or good," he admits.
He adds: "[For] sensitive advice I’m the worst person to go to. It is what it is. I’m not very good when it comes to the emotional side of things."
The girls decided his time was up after he was voted as one of the three least popular boys on the island.
Danny hopes that he can follow up on his kiss with AJ, who was also dumped at the same time.
"Obviously, she’s my type on paper looks wise and she’s up for a laugh. She smashed the first challenge [cat and mouse] when she was new like me. She put her all into it. She bossed that. Full of confidence and I liked it."
AJ Bunker - dumped in week four
AJ (Andrea-Jane) is a hair extension technician from Hertfordshire.
She says that while she's looking to connect with one of the boys, she's respectful of the other girls.
"I think I’m going to bring a bit of spice, I definitely am fiery," she laughs.
"The girls need to know their worth and what standards they should be setting. I’m just going to go in there and be like, ‘Girls, you’re beautiful, you’re smart, know your worth!’ Self love is massive for me. Girl power!
"In terms of the guys, I want to teach them the right way because I’ve been messed about by guys so much. They need to be taught some lessons. And in the meantime, hopefully I find a nice guy as well."
She was dumped from the island after being voted as one of the three least popular girls, before her fellow islanders decided she should be the one to leave.
She was disappointed about what she saw as a lack of effort from Hugo after she coupled up with him.
"He friend-zoned me now, so I’d be happy to meet up with him as a friend. But I feel like, I put in quite a bit of effort and I guess we’ll just see when he comes out. I don’t think he gave me too much of a chance to be honest or made that much effort."
Teddy is a 26-year-old senior financial consultant from Manchester.
He says he's hoping to find a relationship on Love Island.
"I think I’m ready for love now. Law of attraction is probably what I believe in, so being in the villa is part of that thought process," he muses.
"I’m not getting any younger. I’ve always been the type of guy to be in long relationships. Never broken three years though. If I do find someone in the villa, I’m going to take it seriously."
He adds he isn't worried about treading on anyone's toes during his quest for love.
"[I'm] someone who is always generous and considerate of other people. And also someone who is a go-getter. I’ve been quite stubborn with what I want. So if I do see something I want, I do go for it. But I am still generous and will care about the way I go about doing things. If it will impact someone, I will weigh that up."
Lucinda Strafford - dumped in week four
Lucinda is a 21-year-old online fashion boutique owner from Brighton and a former cabin crew member.
She says her previous job in the skies means she's not bothered about spending so much time with the same people.
"I’m used to that thing of meeting someone and then needing to be with them constantly as I was cabin crew," she laughs.
She adds that she's a "relationship girl" and "I want to have some fun" in the villa.
She was dumped at the end of week four when the public voted her and Aaron their least-favourite couple. She had already been at risk earlier in the series when her then-partner Brad opted to keep her in rather than both of them leaving the villa.
"I definitely want to continue things with Aaron," she said after her exit.
"At the time when Brad left I was really upset but I’m happy that I stayed because I carried on and saw Aaron in another way. I feel like when I went in, there was Brad and Aaron and it was nice to focus on one person. It meant that I could connect with Aaron and we get on really well."
Millie is 24, from Essex and a fashion buyer's administrator.
She says she's more than ready for some grafting in the villa having been single for the past year.
"I’ve been single for over a year now. I’m ready to find ‘the one’," she explains. "I’m always up for doing something new and challenging myself. I’ve never done anything like this before. I just want to throw myself into it and have fun with it."
On her ideal partner, she says: "Looks wise, it’s the classic tall, dark and handsome. But people who I’ve been with in the past haven’t been that.
"Genuinely, deep down it’s whether I’ve got a connection with them or not. I’m looking for someone that I can fully vibe with and we have the same energy. I really want someone who can make me laugh and is funny - someone who matches me and not just because they’re good looking. Most boys who are really good looking are boring!"
Rachel Finni - dumped in week three
Rachel is a 29-year-old luxury travel specialist from London.
She describes herself as "very, very independent" as well as being "caring and spontaneous and creative".
Rachel, who surprised the rest of the villa when she joined at the end of week one, says Love Island is "an amazing way to spend the last year of my 20s, doing something that fulfils me emotionally as well. It’s more than going on Love Island for the sake of it. I’m doing it because I love the show and I need someone to marry me".
She was dumped from the villa after newcomer Teddy chose to couple up with Faye, leaving Rachel as the only single woman.
She said her biggest regret was choosing to couple up with Brad rather than Chuggs when she first entered the villa.
"I was stupid enough to fall for Brad’s graft, because it wasn’t genuine. The day after we coupled, he told me to get to know other people. He wasn’t interested.
"The second I picked him, he went off to his friends and said ‘I was gutted I wasn’t going to see you'.
"Chuggs would have actually made the effort to get to know me. I went for Brad because he was more physically attractive."
Chuggs Wallis - dumped in week two
Chuggs is 23, from Surrey and owns a hat business. His real name is Oliver and he claims his childhood nickname is a portmanteau of 'cuddles and hugs'.
He says he felt inspired to give Love Island ago after missing out on his final year of university because of Covid.
"With Covid and the pandemic, I feel like I’ve missed a year of my youth, so I’m really gagging to get it all back – make the most of it," he says.
Revealing what he's looking for in a partner, he says: "I need someone to be my best mate. I need someone who is going to muck in with my brothers, my family.
"I’ve got a mate who has a girlfriend, she plays rugby, golf... everything with us. She’s great, she gets involved. I want something like that."
Chuggs was dumped from the island after just a few days, when newcomer Rachel chose to couple up with Brad instead.
Liam is a 21-year-old bricklayer from Wales.
He says he's looking for a steady relationship, but won't be putting too much effort into getting what he wants.
"If I’m in competition for a female, I want to try my best, but I won’t go too far out of my way," he confessed. "If she liked you that much she wouldn’t have to make a choice."
Aaron Francis - dumped in week four
Aaron is 24 and from London. Through his job as a luxury events host, he’s met various celebrities – including Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice.
He prefers relationships to dating and wants to meet someone who is passionate about what they do.
“From [a] scientist to anything - you can tell when someone is speaking about something and they are actually smiling while they are talking. I love that,” he says.
“I don’t like [it] when people are doing a job just to make money and then they kind of just live for the weekend. Especially because I work on the weekends.”
Aaron and Lucinda were voted the least-favourite couple at the end of week four, spelling the end of their time in the villa.
He hopes their relationship will blossom on the outside.
"We haven’t had a first date yet. We’ve just been getting to know each other within the villa so everyone else has been around. I’d like to start with a first date, that would be nice. I’ve planned a little something, a surprise for her. And then we’ll just move from there.
"I can’t say too much because I don’t really know. London to Brighton isn’t that far and I’m pretty sure we’ll be around each other quite a lot. We were really close with the same people in the villa which I think says a lot."
Brad McClelland - dumped in week three
Brad is a 26-year-old labourer from Northumberland.
Zara McDermott and Megan Fox are among his celebrity crushes, and says he’s looking forward to being in “a nice villa in a hot country for a while”.
Asked what his colleagues think of him, he says: “I try and make as much money as I can by doing as little as possible. They’d probably say – not lazy, as I’m energetic – I just try to get away with doing literally nothing."
He was dumped from the island when the public decided that he and Lucinda were the least compatible couple, and he decided to leave so she could stay on.
He said: "If Cinds leaves single, I’ll be straight in her DMs, I’ll get myself down to Brighton and see if we’re going to go for an ice-cream along the beach."
Chloe is a financial services marketing executive from Bicester.
The 25-year-old reckons her friends and family would describe her as “funny. I’m always the funny one in a situation. I always try and make everyone laugh. Outgoing, I’m quite bubbly and always doing something”.
She says her type is a “good build”.
“I go to the gym,” she reasons. “I want someone who is funny. Really funny and caring and will do nice little things for you.”
Faye is 26 and a lettings manager from Devon.
She says of her job: “I try to make it as Selling Sunset as possible. I’m definitely there in the mini-dresses, boobs out, bum out, turning up and you can see the wives say to their husband, ‘You’re staying outside’. It’s so fun.”
She says she’d love to meet someone on Love Island and hopes to have children in three or four years’ time.
“I want someone who I can go on holidays and stuff with for the next couple of years, and have a really fun time. And then start thinking about kids and serious things in three or four years' time.”
Hugo, from Hampshire, is a former England Physical Disability cricketer and now teaches PE at a secondary school.
The 24-year-old was born with clubfoot, which is where a baby’s feet turn inwards and under.
He says: “I’ve been to Bangladesh, Dubai, I’ve been everywhere to play cricket.
“I was born with clubfoot. I had lots of operations when I was a kid. You can only really tell when I walk barefoot. I’ve got a really short achilles heel. I walk slightly on my tip toes.”
He says he hopes Love Island will help him find a relationship.
“I’ve been single for a while now. With the current climate, it’s been really hard to get back into dating. I saw it as an opportunity to have an amazing fun summer and put myself back out there.”
Jake is a water engineer from Weston-super-Mare.
The 24-year-old says loyalty is the most important thing in a woman and he struggles to trust people.
He says: “I’ve had messages from girls that have got boyfriends and husbands. This is why I don’t trust anyone. [I want] someone who is loyal really. But when I’m single, I like having a good time!”
Kaz is a fashion blogger from Essex.
The 26-year-old says she’s “fun, dramatic, spontaneous, friendly” and light-hearted.
Asked why she wanted to take part in Love Island, Kaz says: “I like meeting new people, I’m ready to be in a relationship. Why not be in a place where people are looking for the same things as me?”
Waitress and marketing student Liberty is 21 and from Birmingham.
She is looking forward to making some friendships with the girls, and admits that she doesn’t make the best choices when it comes to men.
She says: “I like tall, alpha male, confident, a cheeky chappy sort of guy. But obviously that’s always usually combined with player types, which is where I go wrong. So I am trying to change my ways and go for more of a nicer guy that is going to treat me right.”
Shannon Singh - dumped in week one
Model Shannon is 22 and from Fife.
She used to be a glamour model when she was younger and has now turned her hand to DJing. She hopes to meet an “exciting hunk” in the villa.
She says: “I don’t feed off looks, I feed off energy, I need someone with personality. Just someone I can have fun with. I’m a party girl, I love going out, I’m very social.
“For me it’s quite hard to find people who are genuine and looking for what you’re looking for. I’m not just going to go with anyone because they’re convenient. I need to make sure they’re for me. Looks – obviously, they’ve got to be handsome, but if he’s a handsome hunk but it’s like talking to a brick wall and I’d rather watch paint dry, it’s not going to be great.”
She was given a shock exit after just 48 hours when newcomer Chloe coupled up with Aaron, leaving her single.
Sharon Gaffka - dumped in week three
Sharon is 25, from Oxford, and an operations lead for the Department of Transport. She says she’s looking for a relationship in the villa.
She says: “Because of Covid and the lockdown, I’m the only single one in my friendship group. They’re either married or planning on getting married. I don’t want to be the only one in the group chat that is single anymore!"
Sharon was dumped at the end of week three following the recoupling. She had been paired with Hugo as a friendship couple, but he was selected by newcomer AJ.
Sharon said: "AJ got the text saying she was going to pick. I knew that if she chose Hugo, I was going home. For me picking Hugo felt like an easy option for her. She wasn’t treading on toes or potentially causing an argument with the girls as much as it would have if she picked Liam, because me and Hugo were in a friendship couple."
Toby is a 22-year-old semi-professional footballer who plays for the social media-focused Hashtag United.
He admits he’s never been in a relationship, adding: “I thought, ‘If Love Island can’t find me a relationship then no one can’.”
Toby says he is fun and responsible on a night out, and can “always see the bright side in the worst situations”.
Love Island continues at 9pm every night on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
