The best family films to watch in the BT TV Player
Jul 21 | 2 min readOur Girl is back, and Michelle Keegan is leading the cast once again as army medic Georgie Lane.
It’s been a turbulent and traumatic few years for Georgie since she joined up, and it doesn’t sound like her life is set to get any quieter in series 4 of the BBC One show.
Here’s all we know about the new series so far.
When is Our Girl series 4 on TV?
Series 4 was filmed in the summer of 2019 and will air on BBC One from Tuesday, March 24, at 9pm. It continues on Tuesdays at 9pm on BBC One. It consists of six episodes so the final episode will air on Tuesday, April 28.
Is there a trailer for series 4?
There is - watch it below:
Who will star in it?
The good news for the show’s fans is that former Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan is back in the title role as army medic Georgie Lane.
It will be Michelle’s third series as the star of the show since she joined in series two after series one's leading lady, Lacey Turner, who played Molly Dawes, returned to EastEnders.
Returning cast members in Georgie’s 2 Section platoon include Rolan Bell as Kingy, Ben Batt as Blue, Mark Armstrong as Spanner, Jack Parry-Jones as Jackson, Sean Ward as Fingers, Sean Sagar as Monk, and Dominic Jephcott makes a return as the new Brigadier.
Back home in Manchester, Angela Lonsdale and Sean Gilder return as Georgie’s parents, Joan Kempson as her Nan and Linzey Cocker as her sister, Marie.
There are also lots of new cast members, including Nico Mirallegro (Rillington Place, My Mad Fat Diary), Will Attenborough (The Hollow Crown, Home Fires), Kaine Zajaz (Informer, Raised By Wolves), Amy-Leigh Hickman (EastEnders, Ackley Bridge), Josh Bowman (Revenge, Time After Time), Nabil Elouahabi (EastEnders, The Night Of) Nebras Jamali (The Looming Tower) and Badria Timini (Syriana, Unforgotten).
What will happen in series 4?
When we catch up with Georgie in series 4, it’s one year on from the events of 2 Section’s last tour in Bangladesh.
She’s back at home in Manchester and is feeling confident about life – she’s been promoted to sergeant, is training up new medics and has no desire to go back on tour with her platoon, who are heading to Afghanistan again.
However, a near-fatal incident on a night out in Manchester brings back all of Georgie’s memories of the loss of the love of her life, Elvis, in a Taliban attack in Afghanistan.
Georgie decides to face her fears head on and asks to be deployed to Afghanistan with 2 Section.
It sounds like the tour has the potential to be anything but healing, though, as Michelle said: “It is such a joy to reprise the role of Georgie Lane and this season we return to Afghanistan where the British Army retains a presence training Afghan National Army personnel.
“With some of the most incredible and explosive scripts I’ve ever read, this six-part story will rip the heart out of our loyal fan base and new viewers alike.”
Our Girl series 4 continues Tuesdays at 9pm on BBC One.
