El Presidente: Amazon Prime Video reveals FIFA 2015 scandal TV series
The comedy drama series is based on the corruption scandal that ended up bringing down Sepp Blatter at the head of FIFA and shocking the world of football.
The corruption scandal at football's global governing body FIFA rocked the world in 2015 and led to two of the most powerful men in the sport - Sepp Blatter and Michael Platini - losing their jobs as the presidents of FIFA and UEFA respectively.
Investigations from the US Department of Justice lead to 14 people being indicted in connection with allegations of wire fraud, racketeering and money laundering.
Amazon Prime Video’s new series El Presidente is the highly anticipated dramatisation of the affair, and tells the story of Chilean official Sergio Jadue.
Jadue, a former president of the Chilean Football Association, pleaded guilty to involvement in the corruption scandal and was banned from football for life in 2016 by the FIFA Ethics Committee.

When is El Presidente released?
The eight-episode series launches globally on Friday June 5 on Prime Video.
Set against the backdrop of cities across Latin America, the US and Europe, the ‘dramedy’ explores the sports scandal that rocked the world.
The series follows the story of Sergio Jadue, a small‐time Chilean football club president who rose from obscurity to become the president of his country's football association and a key player in a $150m bribery conspiracy involving the infamous head of the Argentine football association, Julio Grondona.
Who is in the cast?
El Presidente has an international cast including Karla Souza (How to Get Away with Murder), Andrés Parra (Pablo Escobar: El Patrón del Mal) and Paulina Gaitán (Diablo Guardian).
The series is written and directed by Academy Award-winning director and screenwriter Armando Bo (Birdman).
