About Scam Threat Protect
Scam Threat Protect enhances your mobile service by detecting and blocking suspected spam and fraud without stopping important calls.
How Scam Threat Protect works
With Scam Threat Protect, we warn you about suspected scam calls before you answer, so you stay in control. Scam Threat Protect is fully integrated into the BT mobile network, so we can analyse information about each call.
In real time:
- We check incoming calls.
- If a call is identified as a nuisance or fraud, your device’s screen will show a ‘Likely Nuisance’ or ‘Suspected Scam’ warning.
- You can then choose whether to accept or ignore the call.
Scammers change tactics quickly, so no solution can prevent 100% of unwanted calls.
What should I do if I think I’ve received a scam message, email or call?
If you receive a suspicious message, email or call, follow these steps:
- Don’t click on links unless you are sure they are genuine.
- Take a moment to stop, think and trust your instincts. If something looks too good to be true, there is usually a catch.
- Don’t share your personal details or allow anyone access to your computer or mobile. If you think you may have shared your bank details, contact your bank straight away.
- Report it to us online and help protect others.
Receiving a suspicious text, email, or call will not harm you. The risk only comes from interacting with it.
