Keeping your number with BT Mobile

Keeping your number with BT Mobile

How to keep your mobile number

You'll need to get a PAC code from your old mobile provider. (PAC codes are made up of three letters and six numbers.) We use it to move your number from your old provider to BT. Before you do this, make sure your phone is unlocked.

To get a PAC code, call the customer services number for your old mobile provider. They're obliged to give you this code within two hours and it'll be valid for 30 days.

Once you've got your code, you can give it to us by going to www.bt.com/keepmynumber.

Once you've activated your SIM and given us your PAC code, it usually takes about 24 hours to move your number.

We'll keep in touch to let you know what's happening.

How long will it take to move my number?

The exact day your number moves across depends on the time and day you gave us your PAC code.

If you ask us to transfer your number before 3pm on a week day, we'll move it over by the next working day. It won’t be a weekend or a bank holiday or the working day before a bank holiday.

Will everything keep working if I move my number?

Both your old and new numbers will work until the move completes.

So both SIMs will work in your phone, but calls to the number that's moving will go to your old provider's SIM until the move to BT Mobile is complete.

What happens on the day?

We'll text you when it's done. Once we've texted, pop the BT Mobile SIM in your phone (if you haven't done it already). Any calls to your number will be on the BT Mobile service.

Your service with your old provider will finish later in the day.

Any problems on the day, try switching your phone off, then back on again.
