Keeping your number with BT Mobile

How to keep your mobile number

You’ll need a PAC code from your old mobile provider. A PAC code has three letters and six numbers. We use it to move your number to BT. Call your old provider’s customer service to get a PAC code. They must give it to you within two hours, and it will be valid for 30 days. Once you have your code, enter it at www.bt.com/keepmynumber.

Once you've activated your BT Mobile SIM and given us your PAC code, it usually takes about 24 hours to move your number. We'll keep in touch to let you know what's happening.

How long will it take to move my number?

The transfer day depends on when you give us your PAC code. If you request it before 15:00 on a weekday, we’ll move your number by the next working day. We don’t transfer numbers on weekends, bank holidays or the day before a bank holiday.

Will everything keep working if I move my number?

Both SIMs will work until the transfer completes, but calls to your old number will go to your old SIM until the move is finished.

What happens on the day?

We’ll text you when the transfer is complete. Then insert your BT Mobile SIM if you haven’t already. Calls to your number will be routed via BT Mobile, and your old service will end later that day. If you have problems, restart your phone.
