How do I find my BT phone number?

The UK’s ageing and unreliable copper landline network is being retired.
When BT contacts you, take action to avoid disruption to your home phone or broadband services

Further information and support are available on our Connected Together website, or by calling 0330 1234 150.

This article covers how you can find your BT landline number using simple methods. These steps apply whether your service is with BT or another provider.

Use one of the following methods:

  • call your mobile from your landline. Your number will show on the mobile screen
  • check your bill from your phone provider. Your number is usually listed
  • look at your phone. Some handsets display the number on the screen or have it printed on a label

If your number is withheld, dial 1470 before the mobile number to show it.

Why your number matters

Your landline number helps us:

  • transfer your current number to a new account
  • cancel your old service

If you don’t provide your number, we may not be able to transfer it. You might need to cancel your old service yourself.
