Hybrid Connect

If you've got a new broadband Smart Hub and want to switch your Hybrid Connect to it, we have detailed steps on the EE website.

Hybrid Connect is a clever little device that works with your Smart Hub 2. It uses EE’s 4G network to keep you online if your broadband goes down. That means you can keep working, streaming and chatting without missing a beat.

It’s included with Halo 3+, and it’s designed to make sure you’re never left without a connection.

How to set up your Hybrid Connect

The easiest way to set up Hybrid Connect is with the My BT app – it’ll guide you through every step. Don’t have the app? No problem, you can still set it up manually.

  1. Plug the Ethernet cable from your Hybrid Connect into one of the yellow ports on your Smart Hub 2.
  2. Switch on both devices.
  3. Wait for the lights on Hybrid Connect to turn solid blue – that means it’s paired.

We recommend always using the Ethernet cable for the best, most reliable connection. However, once set up, your Hybrid Connect can connect over Wi-Fi.

Find the best spot for your Hybrid Connect

Hybrid Connect works best when it’s close to your hub. However, if your 4G signal isn’t strong, try moving it:

  • near a window
  • away from other electronics
  • off the floor
  • to a well ventilated place

This might happen because your BT Broadband is new and your service isn't live yet. However, your service is already live, check your Smart Hub 2 is plugged into your broadband line. If it is, troubleshoot your connection problem.

Speeds when using the Hybrid Connect

Hybrid Connect uses the EE mobile network. Your speed might vary depending on the mobile signal to your Hybrid Connect and how busy the network is.

How Hybrid Connect affects Digital Voice and TV

Digital Voice is our home phone service that is powered by your broadband connection. It won't work during backup, so you'll need to use your mobile for calls.

Streaming and Freeview on your TV service will work fine. Some subscription channels won't work.
