Annual price change

Learn about our 2024 price changes and what they mean for you.

Each year, we adjust the prices of some of our products and services in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate of inflation, plus 3.9%.

When we work out our prices, we use the December CPI rate published in January. For December 2023, the CPI rate was 4.0%. This means that the majority of our customers will see a price increase of 7.9% (which is 4.0% plus 3.9%), or around £3 per month for the average broadband customer.

These price changes take effect from 31 March 2024.

What is the Consumer Price Index (CPI)?

CPI is the most used and reliable measure to track inflation – it compares the cost of a selection of goods (food, clothes, travel etc.) from one year to the next. A new rate is published monthly by the Office for National Statistics, and we always use the December rate, published in January, for our price change.

There’s lots more info on CPI on the Office for National Statistics website, just visit https://www.ons.gov.uk/

Why is BT increasing prices?

We know that your home relies on a brilliant connection. Whether it’s through your mobile or broadband service, it’s more important than ever to keep everyone and everything connected. Our annual price change helps us continue to invest to bring you a better, more reliable experience and the best value for your money. It’s also important as our own costs continue to increase, so the price change means we can continue to maintain the best networks and provide customer service in more ways than ever before.

How can I make smart savings?

We offer a range of products and services to help our customers get the best value for money. We’ve now brought BT together with EE, the UK’s best mobile network 10 years in a row, to create new EE Broadband. Not only do EE Broadband customers benefit from unrivalled connectivity, but they also unlock big savings on unlimited data EE Mobile plans too. A typical family could save up to £372 a year by bundling their broadband and mobile plans together with EE.

Our TV packages also offer a smart way to save. They’re packed full of the latest entertainment, boxsets and sport, and you can change your plan every month based on what you want to watch.

How is BT helping customers who need extra support?

We understand that everyone needs to stay connected, whether that’s over the phone, or through broadband, and we’re committed to doing our very best to ensure our customers get the support they need, when they need it and in the way they need.

If you’re receiving state benefits you may be eligible for one of our broadband or mobile social tariffs:

And as part of the extra help we provide for customers, we’ve put together a financial support guide, which explains the range of options available to customers who are concerned about money.
