Lazio 2-2 Club Brugge - Watch Replay
Lazio advanced to the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time in 21 years with a draw at the Stadio Olimpico against 10-man Club Brugge.
Simone Inzaghi’s men took the lead early on when Joaquin Correa steered home a rebound but Brugge hit back just three minutes later through Ruud Vormer.
Ciro Immobile restored Lazio’s advantage from the penalty spot and the Italians’ position looked rosier when Eduard Sobol was shown his marching orders for a second yellow six minutes before the break.
But Brugge weren’t done. The Belgians, who knew a win would see them advance, drew level once again as Hans Vanaken netted with a powerful header.
It was not enough though as Lazio held on to qualify for the last 16 and send Brugge into a likely Europa League place.
Zenit 1-2 Dortmund - Watch Replay
Axel Witsel scored a late winner for Borussia Dortmund as the Bundesliga side sealed qualification for the knockout stages and top spot in Group F.
The Germans made the worst possible start in St Petersburg as Zenit took the lead in the 16th minute through Argentine forward Sebastian Driussi.
Despite losing, Dortmund were still on course to qualify but Lucien Favre’s men made sure with two goals in second-half minutes to turn the tie around.
First long-serving full back Lukasz Piszczek struck in the 68th minute before former Zenit man Witsel netted with a daisy-cutter from just outside the box to seal all three points and first place in the group.
RB Leipzig 3-2 Man Utd - Watch Replay
Manchester United crashed out of the Champions League after falling just short of a remarkable European comeback at RB Leipzig as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side lost 3-2 in Germany.
Having started Group H with a win at last season’s runners-up Paris St Germain and a five-star display at home to Tuesday’s opponents, the Red Devils undid that fine work and have now dropped into the Europa League.
United had only required a point from their final two matches to reach the knockout phase, yet last week’s loss to PSG was compounded by a heartbreaking defeat at Leipzig as poor defending proved too much to overturn in a grandstand finish.
Chelsea 1-1 Krasnodar - Watch Replay
Jorginho’s penalty salvaged second-string Chelsea a 1-1 draw with Krasnodar in Tuesday’s dead rubber Champions League clash.
Remy Cabella put Krasnodar into the lead at Stamford Bridge, in the final Group E clash that could have no effect on pool standings.
Chelsea hit back without delay though, with Jorginho converting from the spot after Tammy Abraham drew a foul in the box.
Italy midfielder Jorginho held his nerve to slot home his first penalty since missing in the 4-0 win in Krasnodar, in a failure that cost him Chelsea’s main spot-kick duties.
Barcelona 0-3 Juventus - Watch Replay
Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty brace fired Juventus to a stunning 3-0 win at Barcelona which put them top of Champions League Group G.
The striker won his battle against Lionel Messi at the Nou Camp as Juve topped the pool.
Weston McKennie also scored early as Juventus got the three-goal win they needed to pip their opponents to first place.
Paris Saint-Germain S-S Istanbul Basaksehir - Replay
Players from Paris St Germain and Istanbul Basaksehir walked off the pitch during the first half of their Champions League clash after the fourth official was accused of racism.
Tuesday night’s Group H match in Paris was suspended after the Turkish team left the field in the 23rd minute, with the home side following them off.
It came after a red card was shown to one of Basaksehir’s staff, apparently assistant manager Pierre Webo, with video footage emerging which appeared to show the Cameroonian accusing the fourth official of using racist language.
Rennes 1-3 Sevilla - Watch Replay
Sevilla rounded off their Champions League group-stage campaign with a 3-1 win over Rennes as they qualified as runners-up to Chelsea in Group E.
The Spaniards were already guaranteed a last-16 spot and had no real chance of supplanting Chelsea as group winners. But they made a dream start thanks to centre-back Jules Kounde’s stunning strike.
Youssef En-Nesyri doubled the visitors’ lead on the stroke of half time before adding his second and Sevilla’s third on the stroke of half-time.
Rennes did secure some measure of consolation via a penalty from Georginio Rutter but the Ligue 1 side’s first-ever Champions League campaign ended with a solitary point.
Dynamo Kyiv 1-0 Ferencvaros - Watch Replay
Dynamo Kyiv ended their Champions League campaign on a high with a 1-0 win over Ferencvaros in the sixth and final matchday in Group G.
Both sides had a tough task to qualify from a group also featuring Juventus and Barcelona and so it proved as they entered Matchday 6 with their chances of making the last 16 already long extinguished.
But it was Kyiv who won the battle for pride as 21-year-old defender Denys Popov struck in the second half in what proved to be the only goal of the game.
The Ukrainians should secure passage through to the Europa League round of 32 as a result of the win.
