HBO Max launch and what this means for customers with TNT Sports as part of their BT Mobile plan

From 26 March 2026, TNT Sports moved from discovery+ to HBO Max. Your TNT Sports access through BT stays the same — you’ll just use a different app. This page explains what’s changing and how to get started with HBO Max.

What's changing?

On 26 March 2026, HBO Max launched in the UK. As part of this update, TNT Sports moved from discovery+ to the HBO Max app.

If you get TNT Sports through your BT plan, you’ll simply start using HBO Max to watch it. Your access to TNT Sports isn’t changing.

What this means for you

No changes to your BT bill:

  • The move to HBO Max won’t change the cost of your BT plan.
  • There’s nothing you need to pay, add, or upgrade with BT - the switch is included in your plan.

You can still watch all your TNT Sports live streaming channels

You’ll still get every TNT Sports channel that’s included in your plan today. The only difference is the app you use to watch them.

How to access the HBO Max app

Download the HBO Max app from:

Note: Some TVs may have HBO Max pre-installed.

Log in with the same details you used for discovery+

If you already activated TNT Sports on discovery+, use the same email and password to sign in to HBO Max.

If you've never activated TNT Sports before, you’ll need to activate it now through HBO Max. You can do this on http://www.bt.com/discoveryplus.

Upgrading HBO Max in the app

If you’d like more entertainment content than what’s included with your TNT Sports access, you can upgrade to a higher HBO Max tier directly in the HBO Max app.

Please note: Any upgrade charges are handled by HBO – not EE.

You can reset your details in the HBO Max app or on HBO Max’s website by selecting Forgot password.

If you want to update the email address linked to your HBO Max account, you can do that in the Account section of the app or website.

From 26 March 2026, your discovery+ login details will grant you access to your new HBO Max account.

No – your TNT Sports live streaming channels and on-demand content will continue as normal, and there won’t be any interruptions.

You can reset your details in the HBO Max app or on the HBO Max website by selecting Forgot password. If you want to update the email address linked to your HBO Max account, you can do that in the Account section of the app or website.

You can watch all HBO Basic with Ads content in the Now app. If you want to watch this in the HBO app as well, you need to do the following to activate access to this app: . You can do this by:

  1. Go to this NOW help page.
  2. Select Need Help in the bottom right corner.
  3. Select TV.
  4. Select Entertainment & HBO Max Membership.
  5. Select Yes if you have an Entertainment, Big Entertainment or Full Works subscription, or a Now Entertainment & HBO Max extra on your account.
  6. Select I’m an EE TV customer.
  7. Select Link my account so I can watch in the HBO Max app.
  8. IMPORTANT: Select whether you have Now Entertainment & HBO Max as part of your TV package or as add on/extra.
  9. Select Link Now account - an HBO Max web page opens.
  10. Log in to HBO Max (IMPORTANT: If you have a TNT Sports subscription, make sure to use the email you use to access this in discovery+ or HBO).

You can now use your HBO Max Basic with Ads subscription across devices in your HBO Max account.

If you used TNT Sports on discovery+ previously, just log in with the same email and password in HBO Max.

If you are new to TNT Sports, you'll need to activate. You will be able to do this by selecting activate TNT sports on HBO Max in your EE account and follow the instructions to create an HBO Max account and accept the HBO Max Terms of Use. Once activated, you’ll need to log in to the HBO Max app for the first time.
