BT Cloud is closing

All files will be deleted once BT Cloud is closed. If you want to keep your files, make sure to download them before 31 October 2024

BT Cloud

BT Cloud is a data storage service. It was provided to BT Broadband customers who registered before 26 October 2022. Demand for our service has dropped significantly, so we're closing it on 31 October 2024. There are plenty of alternative providers, such as:

  • Apple iCloud
  • Microsoft OneDrive
  • Google One

They all offer free and paid-for options for data storage.

Download and move your files

Please make sure that you have moved any files that you want to keep to an alternative provider before BT Cloud closes. You can find out how to download your files from BT Cloud.

Read-only or download only

From 9 September 2024 you will not be able to upload files to BT Cloud because it's read-only. This means that you cannot add any more files or edit existing ones. You can still view, download and delete files until 31 October 2024.

Error messages

You may see error messages when you try to access your files. This is because we've moved to read-only and you may have tried to:

  • create backups
  • edit files
  • upload files
  • sync to BT Cloud

If you have your device set to backup or sync automatically, this could be why you get the error message.

These messages may also suggest that you don't have BT Broadband any more, but your broadband service will not be affected by the closure. You can check your account status at MyBT or visit Check BT Service Status for any faults in your area just to be sure.

There are lots of potential error messages. Here are some examples:
