Payment options and timings
The time it takes for your payment to reach your account depends on how you paid.
We can't guarantee that we'll process your payment within a certain time, but below are the normal times you can expect. There may be delays on bank holidays.
Online
Payments before 9pm will be processed on the same day, but it can take up to 24 hours. It's a secure, quick, and easy way to pay your bill.
By phone
Payments made before 9pm on our automated service on 0800 44 33 11 should be processed the same day, but can take up to 24 hours. If you're paying this way, you'll need your BT account number handy. You can find this at the top of your bill.
BACS or Online Banking
Payment can take up to 24 hours to show on your BT account.
Cheque, cash or a Postal Order
It can take up to 5 working days. We'll start processing your payment on the day we receive it.
At the bank, the Post Office, or a PayPoint
- Pay Monday to Thursday: we'll get it the next Monday
- Pay Friday: we'll get it on Monday
- Pay over the weekend: we'll get it Tuesday
