Fulham vs Everton match preview 

Both clubs go into this match on a bit of a high. Fulham haven't lost in three and are sitting pretty in 7th place in the Premier League, while Everton put in one of their best performances of the season last weekend against Crystal Palace. 

Marco Silva's side has scored eight goals in their last three matches and will need that same goalscoring prowess to get past Everton's strong centre-back pairing of Conor Coady and James Tarkowski, not to mention their goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. 

It's at the other end where Fulham have been vulnerable - with their recent 3-0 victory over Aston Villa the only time Fulham have kept a clean sheet in front of their own fans, and only the second time in the Premier League all season. 

With striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin back to full fitness, Anthony Gordon in good form, and Alex Iwobi rejuvenated in the centre of midfield, Everton pose a real threat up front. This should be an intriguing encounter.

Fulham vs Everton: Injuries and suspensions

Everton don’t have any new injury worries going into this match, but they remain without Ben Godfrey, Andros Townsend and Yerry Mina.

Defender Nathan Patterson faces a late fitness test to see if he can be included in the matchday squad after recovering from an ankle injury.

Fulham continue to impress on their return to the Premier League.

After two defeats in early October against Newcastle and West Ham, Fulham steadied the ship and returned to winning ways.

Aleksandar Mitrovic missed the Hammers match after limping off injured in the Newcastle fixture. Since his return against a resurgent Bournemouth side, Fulham have taken seven points from nine, including a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa which proved the final nail in the coffin for Steven Gerrard as Villa’s manager.

In attack the Cottagers pose a real threat, with Andreas Pereira, Willian, Palhinha and the deadly Mitrovic possessing pace, trickery and power.

Defensively, Fulham are leaky and only recently kept their first home clean sheet of the season against Aston Villa.

With Everton looking dangerous in attack, the Cottagers will need to show how good they can be defensively as well as up front against the Toffees.

Having lost three matches on the trot against Manchester United, Spurs and Newcastle, Everton put in one of their best performances of the season against Crystal Palace at the weekend, winning 3-0 at Goodison Park.

The return of Dominic Calvert-Lewin to full fitness is a big blessing for the Blues, and after his performance and goal against Palace there’s already been calls for him to make Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup.

He faces stiff competition from the likes of Callum Wilson and Ivan Toney, but if he keeps scoring and stays fit he has an outside chance.

Lampard will be hoping their last performance is a sign of things to come for the rest of the season. 

Fulham vs Everton: Last time they met

Fulham last played Everton in the Premier League on Valentine’s Day 2021. There was no love lost that day as the Cottagers sent Toffee fans home with broken hearts, winning the match 2-0 with Josh Maja scoring them both.

The last time the two clubs met at Craven Cottage was in November 2020. Everton won that encounter 3-2, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring twice and Adboulaye Doucoure also netting. Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Ruben Loftus-Cheek scored for the hosts.

Everton manager Frank Lampards after his team's outstanding performance against Crystal Palace:

“From minute one, we were on it. We engaged the fans, had an energy, organised, great pressing which brought the first goal then continued with the right things we want to do. It’s important in the last few games that we showed we are working in the right direction.

“It felt like an Everton performance to me. When I say that, a lot of energy, passing was aggressive, a variation into the front or behind, good passing and switches of play. That’s what I want for the team and I know that. Today, they showed it all.”

Fulham vs Everton: Players to watch

Earlier this month Frank Lampard labelled midfielder Alex Iwobi as “one of the best midfield players in the league.”

The Nigerian international has had a unbelievable season so far, with five assists in 12 appearances, which is one more than he managed in his three previous seasons combined with the Toffees.

Lampard switched Iwobi from the wing into the middle of the pitch and it’s worked wonders for the player and the team.

Iwobi set up two of the goals against Palace, including a sumptuous back heel into the path of Dwight McNeil to finish off.

Lampard will be hoping for more of the same against Fulham.

• Everton won their last away Premier League match against Fulham in November 2020, winning 3-2. The Toffees have never won consecutive away league games against the Cottagers.

• Everton have lost more Premier League away games in London than any other side (85), with the Toffees winless in their last eight visits to the capital (D2 L6).

• Everton are winless in their last six league games against promoted sides (D2 L4), with Toffees last having a longer such run between April 1971 and April 1973 (a run of nine).

• Fulham have won their last two Premier League games, beating Aston Villa 3-0 and Leeds United 3-2. They last won three in a row in the top-flight in April 2019, while they last scored 3+ goals in three in a row in March 1966.
