Ivan Toney

Price: £7m

After a mixed bag in his and Brentford's top-flight bow, expect Ivan Toney to reach new heights in his sophmore season in the Premier League.

The one-time Magpie had managed only four goals and two assists in the first 19 gameweeks following Brentford's promotion.

He then proceeded to score eight more times over the final 19, ranking third among forwards.

Moreover, Toney's 44 shots in the box also placed him third from gameweek 20 onwards, while his 24 key passes were the second-most in his position.

Aleksandar Mitrovic

Price: £6.5m

Is it finally the year Aleksandar Mitrovic cracks the Premier League?

The feisty Serb enjoyed a record-breaking season for 2021/22 Championship winners Fulham, scoring 43 goals in 44 appearances to help seal the Cottagers' immediate return to the Premier League.

Marco Silva’s men were the first side in 20 years to score more than 100 goals in the Championship and Mitrovic was involved in 47 per cent of those strikes, having also supplied seven assists.

As the focal point of Silva’s 4-2-3-1 formation, his 198 shots and 138 attempts inside the penalty area were both more than any other player in the Championship making him a sensible pick to bolster your attack this season.

Mid-priced

Kai Havertz

Price: £9m

Much is expected of Kai Havertz as the Germany international enters his third season in the Premier League.

The forward arrived in England to much fanfare but the ex-Bayer Leverkusen star is yet to show his full potential.

A modest return of 12 goals and 10 assists across his previous two campaigns is hardly anything to shout about, but Romelu Lukaku’s return to Inter Milan means he will likely be Chelsea's main centre forward this season.

Just as comfortable dropping off into space as he is challenging defences in behind, the former Bundesliga prodigy is beginning to show why Chelsea shelled out more than £70m in 2020.

The summer addition of Raheem Sterling, who has made a career out of getting to the byline, makes Havertz an even more enticing forward option.

Gabriel Jesus

Price: £8m

Reunited with former coach Mikel Arteta, Jesus only twice reached four consecutive starts throughout the last two seasons.

With Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gone, Arteta finally has the chance to construct Arsenal's attack in his image and Jesus will be at the forefront.

An injury scare in the win over Chelsea may have cast a shadow over his impressive pre-season form but the Brazilian should be fit to lead the line as Arsenal open up their campaign away at Crystal Palace.

A trip to Selhurst Park, the scene of a serious knee injury two seasons ago, brings added motivation for Jesus.

Premium players

Erling Haaland

Price: £11.5m

Managers may baulk at his price-tag, but there's a reason why Haaland is in 58% of teams so far.

£11.5m is no small chunk of change when you're trying to stretch your budget as far as possible but the marauding Norseman is a must-have this season.

Having scored 26 goals in 28 appearances for Borussia Dortmund last year, Haaland arrives in England with considerable expectations on his shoulders but the lanky striker loves the limelight.

Harry Kane

Price: £11.5m

Typically a slow starter, managers are used to having their patience tested by Harry Kane's infamous August dry spells.

But the Tottenham goal-getter always overcomes those early-season blues meaning managers cannot afford to overlook finding some wedge to splash on the man zeroing in on Alan Shearer's all-time Premier League record.

He wreaked havoc on Premier League defences in partnership with Heung-min Son last season and the addition of Everton old-boy Richarlison adds strings to Spurs' already formidable attacking bow.

Differentials

Anthony Martial

Price: £7m

We know what you're thinking, but hear us out on this one.

The ongoing uncertainty around Cristiano Ronaldo's future leaves Man Utd with only one other recognised number nine: Anthony Martial.

Last campaign, the 26-year-old scored just once in 11 games for United before heading to Sevilla on loan where he again would net just one goal in 12 matches.

However, he was included in the Red Devils’ pre-season tour and with Ronaldo not travelling to Asia and Australia, the France international has started every game in the striker role.

And he has made the most of this opportunity, scoring three goals and looking very impressive in the wins over Liverpool, Melbourne Victory, and Crystal Palace.

Can Eric ten Hag be the catalyst to help resuscitate Martial's flat-lining United career? Let's just say you don't want to miss out on those points if he does!

Julian Alvarez

Price: £6.5m

With all the noise surrounding Haaland's move to Man City, the arrival of Julian Alvarez has gone relatively unnoticed.

Despite the lack of fanfare their is no less excitement about the diminuative Argentinian, who arrives in Manchester with a formidable reputation for a player of such tender years.

Aged 22, Alvarez put pen to paper on his City deal back in January but was immediately loaned back to River Plate where he would go on to score six goals, three in each half, in a Copa Libertadores tie back in May.

With Pep Guardiola's penchant for left-field selections, don't bet against Alvarez leading the line for City when they begin their title defence against West Ham.
