Man City wrapped up qualification for the knockout stages with two games to spare, so the focus now for the Premier League champions is to top Group G.
A draw against Borussia Dortmund will be enough for Pep Guardiola’s side, who have cruised through to the last 16 in menacing fashion. No team will want to face City in the last 16.
With Erling Haaland’s total for the season now at 22 in all competitions, there is a fear factor associated with City that perhaps hasn’t been there in previous seasons.
And the prolific striker, should Guardiola not opt to rest him for the trip to Dortmund, will be determined to score against his former club, as he did at the Etihad last month.
Returning to the Westfalenstadion will add an extra layer of significance to the game for Haaland, who scored 86 goals in 89 appearances for the Bundesliga side.
Replacing the Norwegian has been an impossible task for BVB, but head coach Edin Terzic still has plenty of quality at his disposal.
Jude Bellingham, encouragingly for England just before the World Cup, seems to have gone up a level this season, while the likes of Marco Reus and Julian Brandt are performing well.
Dortmund can secure their place in the last 16 with a draw against City after taking four points from their double-header with Sevilla.

Dortmund vs Man City: Injuries and suspensions
Dortmund could be without defender Nico Schlotterbeck after he was withdrawn with a calf injury during Saturday’s 5-0 win over Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.
Donyell Malen and Reus were unavailable at the weekend but are expected to return for the City clash.
Midfielder Salih Ozcan is suspended and will miss out, while Thomas Meunier, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Mateu Morey, Mahmoud Dahoud and Sebastien Haller are all on the treatment table.
For City, Sergio Gomez is suspended after his red card in the goalless draw in Copenhagen last time out.
Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips are still injured, but John Stones returned to action in the weekend’s 3-1 win over Brighton.

Dortmund vs Man City: Form guide
Dortmund’s Bundesliga form has been patchy in the opening weeks of the season, but Terzic appears to have found a winning formula.
His side have bounced back from a 2-0 defeat to surprise Bundesliga leaders Union Berlin with back-to-back wins against Hannover and Stuttgart. The latter was an emphatic victory as Bellingham scored a brace and youngsters Giovanni Reyna and Youssoufa Moukoko got on the scoresheet.
City’s air of invincibility disappeared with defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League, only a few days after a slightly underwhelming draw at Copenhagen.
But they were back on track on Saturday, beating Brighton 3-1 with another two goals for the irrepressible Haaland.
City have now scored 47 goals in 15 matches across all competitions, a formidable record for any team unfortunate enough to face them.
Dortmund vs Man City: Last time they met
Dortmund looked to have produced a defensive masterclass at the Etihad last month, leading 1-0 late in the game and nullifying a City side that currently score at a rate of more than four goals a game at home.
But Stones’ equaliser in the 80th minute was followed shortly after by an acrobatic Haaland finish to turn the match on its head.

Pep Guardiola has backed Haaland to break the Premier League goal scoring record and to get even better in a City shirt:
“You don’t have to be a genius. If he continues with this rhythm, the average every game he is going to break the record.
“But in football, maybe you score and then a few days you stop scoring, you don’t know.
“He is happy when the team win and is not when we don’t win. All the strikers I have seen in my career like Samuel Eto’o, David Villa, Lionel Messi, [Robert] Lewandowski, Thomas Muller and Sergio Aguero have an incredible ambition to score a lot of goals. That’s normal. It has to be there.
“Dortmund and the period there helped him because of the manager he had, the mates he had.
“Hopefully in a few years he will be a better player thanks to the mates he plays with here."
Dortmund vs Man City: Players to watch
Bellingham was excellent in the return fixture, giving Dortmund the lead before Stones and Haaland hit back for City.
There will be plenty, including Gareth Southgate, watching the precocious midfielder with interest again as he takes on one of Europe’s best teams and faces off against several of his England teammates.
The 19-year-old has scored goals in previous seasons but seems to have taken on more attacking responsibility since the departure of Haaland, top scoring for Dortmund with eight so far this term.
For City, Haaland is the obvious focus as he looks to continue his remarkable form at the stadium where he earned his big-money move.
