BT 4G Home Hub settings and updates

Keeping your software up to date can help protect against viruses and hackers. To update the software:

  1. Connect your BT 4G Home Hub to your computer via a cable or WiFi
  2. Open a web browser and type http://192.168.1.1/ into the address bar then press Enter
  3. Click LOG IN HERE to access settings
  4. Enter your username and password, then click Log In
  5. Click Device Settings
  6. Click on Online Updates then Check for Updates
  7. The latest software version will then be displayed and available for download
  8. The software update has now been completed

  1. Connect your Hub to your computer via a cable or WiFi
  2. Open a web browser and type http://192.168.1.1/ into the address bar then press Enter
  3. Click LOG IN HERE to access settings
  4. Enter your username and password, then click Log In
  5. Click Statistics then Clear History
  6. Click OK to clear history

  1. Connect your BT 4G Home Hub to your computer via a cable or WiFi
  2. Open a web browser and type http://192.168.1.1/ into the address bar then press Enter
  3. From the homepage, click Change your BT 4G Home Hub SSID and password
  4. Enter your username and password, then click Log In
  5. Click Status
  6. Click Statistics then Internet to see your usage history

  1. Connect the Hub to your computer via a cable or WiFi
  2. Open a web browser and type http://192.168.1.1/ into the address bar then press Enter
  3. From the homepage, click Change your BT 4G Home Hub SSID and password
  4. Enter your username and password, then click Log In
  5. Click Device then Device Management
  6. Click Backup & Restore
  7. Click Backup and wait while the device saves your current settings to your computer
  8. Note: by default, the settings file will be saved to the Downloads folder on your hard drive
  9. The BT 4G Home Hub’s current settings will now have been saved

  1. Connect the BT 4G Home Hub to your computer via a cable or WiFi
  2. Open a web browser and type http://192.168.1.1/ into the address bar then press Enter
  3. From the home page, click Change your BT 4G Home Hub SSID and password
  4. Enter your username and password, then click Log In
  5. Click Device
  6. Click Device Management
  7. Click Backup & Restore
  8. Click Browse
  9. Navigate to the saved configuration file, then click Open
  10. Click Restore
  11. Click Restore to confirm
  12. The Hub settings have now been restored

  1. Connect the Hub to your computer via a cable or WiFi
  2. Open a web browser and type http://192.168.1.1/ into the address bar then press Enter
  3. Click LOG IN HERE to access settings
  4. Enter your username and password, then click Log In
  5. Click WLAN then WLAN Basic Settings
  6. Click Enable or Disable radio button next to SSID Broadcast
  7. Click Apply

You can enable or disable the firewall on your BT 4G Home Hub. This will protect your wireless network from anyone else trying to use it.

  1. Connect the BT 4G Home Hub to your computer via a cable or WiFi
  2. Open a web browser and type http://192.168.1.1/ into the address bar then press Enter
  3. Click LOG IN HERE to access settings
  4. Enter your username and password, then click Log In
  5. Click Security then Firewall Switch
  6. Tick or untick Enable Firewall tick box
  7. Click Apply

All WiFi devices have a MAC address and MAC Filtering is a great way to make a WiFi connection more secure. You have to manually add the MAC of a new device into the BT 4G Home Hub to connect.

This means no unauthorised devices can access your wireless network.

  1. Connect the BT 4G Home Hub to your computer via a cable or WiFi
  2. Open a web browser and type http://192.168.1.1/ into the address bar then press Enter
  3. Click LOG IN HERE to access settings
  4. Enter your username and password, then click Log In
  5. Click WLAN then WLAN MAC Filter
  6. Click WLAN MAC Filter and select the filter mode
  7. Click on an empty MAC Address field and enter the MAC address of the device you want to add
  8. To remove a device from the MAC filtering list, delete the address from the MAC Address field
  9. Click Apply

SIP ALG can help prevent problems caused by router firewalls. It does this by inspecting incoming data traffic and in some cases modifying it.

To enable or disable SIP ALG on your BT 4G Home Hub:

  1. Connect the Hub to your computer via a cable or WiFi
  2. Open a web browser and type http://192.168.1.1/ into the address bar then press Enter
  3. Click LOG IN HERE to access settings
  4. Enter your username and password, then click Log In
  5. Click Security
  6. Click SIP ALG Settings then tick or untick the Enable SIP ALG
  7. Click Apply

Yes. A full reset will delete all personal configuration settings on your BT 4G Home Hub. It will also restore the web-based management settings to their default values.

  1. Turn your Hub so the bottom is facing upwards
  2. Using a paperclip or pen, press and hold the Reset button for approximately 5 seconds
  3. Your Hub will restart automatically
  4. Your factory settings should be restored
