Celebrity Supply Teacher: CBBC reveal your new teachers for lockdown
Gary Lineker, Marcus Rashford and Tim Peake are among the celebrities taking over the classroom in these 10-minute lessons for children learning from home during lockdown.
Schools are slowly opening, but for many children the majority of learning is still going to be taking place at home for the coming months.
Parents struggling to balance looking after kids and work will be more than grateful for CBBC, which is stepping up to offer a helping hand with the homeschooling.
Recruiting some famous faces from sport, TV, music and science, the channel is offering special lessons with insight from celebrities on their specialist subjects.
Produced by BBC Children’s In-House Productions, the series offer a unique learning experience and insight into the life of the celeb teachers and the things that inspire them.
Loosely based around the primary curriculum, the 20-episode series covers topics ranging from science to English, maths to history and cookery to dance in a fun and entertaining way.
Who are the celebrity teachers?
The first teacher is former Spice Girl and author of several children’s books, Geri Horner. Offering her very own tips on creating a great story. She covers themes such as character, setting and plot. She presents the show from her farm and introduces viewers to some of the animals that inspire her.
Tim Peake will give a fascinating lesson all about space. He gives his tips for surviving in space, including how to eat, drink and go to the toilet. Then, from his back garden, he demonstrates the science behind how space rockets work using household materials to create his own rocket and rocket launcher.
Manchester United and England star Marcus Rashford is well known for his exploits on the pitch, but how does he prepare for them? Marcus treats viewers to a masterclass in preparing your body for sport, including stretches and warm-up drills.
Stars of Emmerdale and off-screen married couple Jeff Hordley and Zoe Henry share their love of gardening. Filmed on their allotment and in their back garden, they teach viewers how to grow your own lunch, a delicious tomato and basil salad which can be grown in the smallest of outside spaces.
Meanwhile, Heston Blumenthal presents a class from his home in France. He explains the difference between taste and flavour and shows us how to make the ultimate strawberry sundae.
