Nine Perfect Strangers is the next book from Big Little Lies bestselling author Liane Moriarty to be turned into a TV series. The show will reunite Nicole Kidman with the creative team behind the juicy Monterey drama.

And we now know where you’ll be able to watch it in the UK – the series will be launched exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.

What is Nine Perfect Strangers about? Plot and spoilers

Set at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation, the story follows nine stressed city dwellers try to get on a path to a better way of living.

Watching over them during this 10-day retreat is the resort’s director Masha (Kidman), a woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies. However, these nine strangers have no idea what is about to hit them.

The series has been produced by Nicole Kidman, Bruna Papandrea, David E Kelley – the team behind Big Little Lies and The Undoing.

The cast is a who’s who of Hollywood talent including Nicole Kidman (The Undoing) and Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids) in their first project together.

Kidman is wellness resort director Masha and McCarthy will play down on her luck romance novelist Frances who is one of the visiting strangers.

Manny Jacinto (The Good Place) will play Yao, a hipster “man-kid”,

Luke Evans (Beauty and the Beast) will play gay divorce lawyer Lars.

Samara Weaving (Hollywood) and Melvin Gregg (Snowfall) will play husband and wife Jessica and Ben who hit marriage problems after winning the lottery.

Grace Van Patten (Maniac) plays Zoe, who joined the retreat to deal with the death of her twin brother and Tiffany Boone (Little Fires Everywhere) will play Delilah, an employee at the retreat.

Regina Hall (Girls Trip) plays Carmel, a single mum who was dumped by her husband for a younger woman, Michael Shannon (Man of Steel), Asher Keddie (Offspring) and Grace Van Patten (The Meyerowitz Stories) will play a family who enter the retreat grieving.

Bobby Cannavale (The Irishman) is another one of the strangers; beer-bellied former football star Tony who is a love interest for McCarthy’s France.

Zoe Terakes (Wentworth) will play Glory, another employee at the Tranquillum Wellness Center.

Where is Nine Perfect Strangers filmed?

The series was filmed in Australia  in 2020 across 19 weeks in Byron Bay, New South Wales.

The show used the luxury wellness retreat SOMA to bring the Tranquilium' retreat from Moriarty’s novel to life.

How can you watch Nine Perfect Strangers in the UK?

The eight-part series will be available exclusively in the UK on Amazon Prime Video from August 20.
