What is the Marlow plot?

A compelling thriller, Marlow tells the story of Thames Estuary families the Wyatts and the Marlows who have been at war with each other for generations.

The two families have lived in the Edgelands, the muddy flats of the Thames Estuary, for centuries, where they face off across the water in a land of smugglers, mudlarks, entrepreneurs and opportunists.

Evie Wyatt was born and bred in the Estuary but has been away from the Edgelands and has just returned, seeking revenge and answers for her father’s death after losing him to a firestorm 15 years earlier.

She ends up drawn into a battle with the Marlow family and its aging patriarch, Tom Marlow, who has plans to change the face of the Edgelands forever.

But Evie ends up with her own part to play in the plans as their fates collide in the story based on ancient tales of revenge.

Just like the shifting mud that the families’ empires are built on, nothing is quite what it seems in the Edgelands.

Who is in the Marlow cast?

So far, there’s only one name attached to Marlow - but it’s a big one.

Claire Foy who has starred in The Crown, Wolf Hall and First Man will play Evie Wyatt.

She said: “I’m delighted to be a part of this compelling thriller. The twists, turns and mysteries at the heart of this drama are utterly gripping.

“Evie Wyatt is such a captivating, complex and beguiling character, much like the enigmatic Edgelands which she calls home, and I can’t wait to get to step into her shoes.”

What is the Marlow release date?

The eight-part series doesn't have a release date, but it will be available exclusively on BritBox.

Marlow is expected to begin streaming in 2022.
