Bridgerton was a real Christmas 2020 treat.

Amid all the doom and gloom in the real world, the period drama’s dazzling imagery and juicy plotlines have been keeping everyone gripped.

It’s also got a huge cast with several recognisable faces, so check out where you know each character from.

Lady Whistledown – Julie Andrews

Lady Whistledown is the author of the gossip newsletter that frequently gets tongues wagging – so much that Queen Charlotte is determined to find out who she is.

She is voiced by none other than Julie Andrews, who you will know from classic films like The Sound Of Music and Mary Poppins.

But as for Lady Whistledown’s on-screen identity, you’ll have to watch until the end of season one to find out who she is.

Daphne Bridgerton – Phoebe Dynevor

Daphne is the central character of the show. She (and her brother) must find a suitable husband, but not everything goes exactly as planned.

Phoebe Dynevor’s previous credits include Waterloo Road, Snatch and Dickensian. She is also the daughter of Coronation Street stalwart Sally Dynevor, who plays Sally Webster.

Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings – Regé-Jean Page

Unlike the other eligible bachelors, Simon seemingly has no interest in finding a wife or getting married. However, when he and Daphne come up with a plot to benefit them both, could his opinions change?

This is Regé-Jean Page’s biggest role to date, with previous credits including Waterloo Road, Fresh Meat and For The People. Eagle-eyed Harry Potter fans may have also spotted him in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, where he had a small unnamed role.

Anthony Bridgerton – Jonathan Bailey

In the absence of his late father, it is eldest sibling Anthony’s duty to find Daphne a husband – but he has problems of his own when it comes to settling down and getting married.

Jonathan Bailey has previously featured in W1A, Broadchurch and Jack Ryan.

Lady Portia Featherington – Polly Walker

Lady Portia is determined to find husbands for her three daughters.

Polly Walker is a familiar face in the acting world – she played Gill in Line of Duty, and has also featured in Mr Selfridge and State of Play.

Eloise Bridgerton – Claudia Jessie

Eloise has no interest in finding a husband on the marriage market, and instead begins to investigate who could be behind the Lady Whistledown letters.

Claudia Jessie starred as Amelia Sedley in Vanity Fair, and has also featured in Line of Duty and Porters.

Lady Danbury – Adjoa Andoh

Lady Danbury supported Simon during his miserable childhood, and acts as a mother figure to him.

Lord Featherington is the head of the family, but he’s normally seen taking a back seat behind a newspaper – leaving the marriage mart stuff to Portia.

Ben Miller has an impressive CV, with his biggest credits in The Armstrong and Miller Show, Death in Paradise, Johnny English and Paddington 2.

Marina Thompson – Ruby Barker

Marina Thompson is sent from the country to live with her Featherington cousins – and they get a little more than they bargained for.

Ruby Barker’s previous acting credits include Cobra and Wolfblood.
