One of the best things about Netflix is that once you’ve found something you love, you can binge-watch the entire series in one go.

And when you’re looking for something funny, there’s a whole load of choice on the streaming service for laugh-out-loud box sets.

After Life

After Life season 1 is streaming on Netflix now. All six episodes of After Life series 2 are streaming on Netflix from Friday, April 24.

What’s it about?

Set in the small fictitious town of Tambury, the comedy-drama series follows Tony (Ricky Gervais), a writer for the local newspaper whose life is upended after his wife dies from cancer. 

In series 2, whilst still struggling with immense grief for his wife, we see Tony try to become a better friend to those around him. Each grappling with their own problems and only to be intensified by the looming threat of the local newspaper being shut down.

Will the town’s local Am-Dram show lift everyone’s spirits?

Why watch it?

After Life was praised by critics for its portrayal of grief, with CNN’s media critic Brian Lowry writing that the mix of comedy alongside grief in Gervais’ script makes for a ‘bittersweet and melancholy series’.

The Good Place

What’s it about?

Emmy-nominated comedy starring Kristen Bell as Eleanor Shellstrop, who arrives at the Good Place after her death. Determined to stay, she tries to become a better person. The show also stars Ted Danson as architect Michael who oversees the town.

The Good Place is created by Michael Schur - who co-created Golden Globe winning comedy Parks and Recreation.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

What’s it about?

Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows the lives of an eclectic group of detectives in a New York police precinct, including one slacker (Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg) who is forced to shape up when he gets a new boss - the serious and stern Captain Ray Holt (Andre Braugher).

Why watch it?

The show was cancelled by US network Fox after five seasons, but it was picked up by NBC - the home of iconic comedies such as The Office and Parks and Recreation - for a sixth season after uproar from fans. Good news for B99 fans - season 7 is coming, too!

Grace and Frankie
