Liverpool play host to Newcastle United in one of five Premier League fixtures live on BT Sport this Wednesday evening.

The match is a repeat of the iconic meeting between the two sides back in 1996, when Kevin Keegan's 'Entertainers' travelled to Anfield looking to stay ahead of Man Utd in the race for the Premier League title.

Liverpool vs Newcastle match preview

This is a match that has provided some of the best Premier League moments in its 30-year history. And this fixture is set up nicely to deliver some more classic moments.

Liverpool go into the match off the back of a stunning 9-0 win against Bournemouth. It was a much needed victory after defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Roberto Firmino made a big impact in their record victory and should start alongside the impressive Luis Diaz and Salah, who unbelievably didn’t get on the scoresheet at the weekend. He’ll be looking to put that right.

Newcastle will be hoping that their record signing, new striker Alexander Isak, is available to make his debut against the Reds having been denied a debut at the weekend by the late arrival of a work permit. With Callum Wilson sidelined for another few weeks, having the Swedish international available would be a massive boost.

However, the Magpies’ creative midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is likely to miss the match after picking up a "minor injury", according to Eddie Howe, in training before the Wolves game.
