What do the lights on my BT Hub mean?

The lights on a BT Hub reveal how well it's working. Scroll down to find your Hub model. 

 

BT Smart Hub 

No light 

What it means 

Hub isn't receiving power, or the lights are switched off 

Green light 

What it means 

Hub is starting up - this takes about two minutes

 

Orange light 

What it means 

Hub is working but isn't connected to the internet - this takes about two minutes  

Flashing orange light  

What it means 

Hub is connecting to broadband - this takes about 30 seconds 

Blue light 

What it means 

Hub is working fine 

Flashing purple light 

What it means 

Hub is working but not connected to the internet 

Red light 

What it means 

There's a problem with the Hub

Colour of light

What it means 

No light 

Hub isn't receiving power, or the lights are switched off 

Green light 

Hub is starting up - this takes about two minutes

Flashing orange light  

Hub is connecting to broadband - this takes about 30 seconds

What it means

What it means 

BT power save mode is on, or there's a problem with Hub 

Flashing orange 

What it means 

Hub starting up or connecting via WPS  

Red 

What it means 

Hub is not connected to broadband
