BT Home Tech Experts are specialists in devices, TV, wi-fi technology and online security. If you’re having a tech issue they can help.
Due to Coronavirus, you can choose to have a contactless Home Expert Visit. Without coming into your home our Home Tech Experts can still help set up new services, improve or fix your wi-fi or TV, or lend a hand with things like online security, parental controls and wi-fi controls.
How do I arrange a visit?
If you order something which you'll be installing yourself, we'll give you the option to book a Home Tech Expert visit at the same time. Our visits are flexible with 2 hour appointment slots, 7 days a week.
How do I cancel my visit?
You can change or cancel your appointment anytime before our expert arrives.
Just call us on 0800 800 150 and we'll help you reschedule. We're open every day from 9am to 6pm.
On the day of your appointment you can call us on the above number or speak directly to your Home Tech Expert to rearrange the time or date - they'll give you a call shortly before your appointment to check it's still convenient. You can change the time during this call or give the Home Tech Expert a call back later if things change.
What if I’m not at home?
They'll try to call you on your contact number to see if you need to change the appointment.
If they haven't been able to make contact with you, they'll leave a calling card with a number on it so that you can rearrange the appointment. You'll also get an email explaining how to rebook your appointment.
How long will the visit take?
It depends on the issue. A typical visit takes 45-60 minutes, but it could be more or less depending on what work needs doing.
Does the account holder need to be there?
Ideally yes, because sometimes in order to fix whatever issue you're having our expert will need your permission to do the neccessary task.
If you can't be there, you'll need someone who is over 18 and able to make decisions on your behalf to be home. If that isn't possible, please change your appointment to another time.
How much does a Home Tech Expert Visit cost?
If you're a Halo customer, visits are included as part of your package.
For customers who don't have a Halo package, a Home Tech Expert appointment costs £30, or if you need two TV boxes set up, £60.
How does a contactless visit work?
Before a Home Tech Expert comes to your home we will call you. At that point, you can decide to have a contactless visit.
In that case, we'll drop any kit off on your doorstep and chat through everything you need to know by phone or video call. Without coming into your home we can still:
- Make sure you have the strongest possible wifi all over your house, and can get your devices connected
- Solve any problems with BT TV
- Help set up a new service
- Lend a hand with things like online security, parental controls and wifi controls
I’m self-isolating. Can I reschedule my appointment?
Yes. And if your problem is with wi-fi, we’ll make sure you stay connected in the meantime.
If you’re a BT mobile customer, we’ll give you unlimited mobile data.
If you have an EE mobile, we’ll give you an extra 50GB of data.
And for everyone else, we’ll send a 4G Mini Hub to get you back online until it’s safe for us to fix the problem in person
