Since its launch in 1975, BT Labs at Adastral Park has been responsible for many of the pioneering innovations which have transformed our digital world.

In 1984 our research team at Adastral Park perfected the use of single mode optical fibre. Today this technology plays a role at the heart of all global networks, including our own – a network that reaches customers in more than 180 countries.

Adastral Park is critical to our success as leading global innovator. It’s an important national asset – a globally-recognised centre for telecoms research and a key source of UK Intellectual Property.

Today it’s where our 4000 scientists, IT experts, engineers and collaboration partners are pushing the boundaries of innovation, coming up with new ideas and developing technologies that continue to change how we live and work.
